The Premier Fire Wood Producer and Lowest Cost In Saskatoon
Ever wonder what gets done with all those logs we cut down and remove from your property? A number of things that can happen, and one of them is we split them and store the timber in one of our facilities until they’re sufficiently seasoned. We offer fire wood sales to the public with some of the better cuts of wood we take off of our clients properties, making the best possible use of that once beautiful tree. TRS also offer splitting service, and age all that firewood in their yard and use it when is convenient.
Another thing we do if the home owner isn’t interested in keeping it, we will take it to the city compost. They accept many varieties of trees and shrubs, and will put even the biggest logs through their massive wood chippers. They offer this service free of charge, and give back to the community free compost and mulch to residents. All you need to do is bring something to load it into, and as much as you want. It’s a great program here in Saskatoon.

Types Of Firewood In Saskatoon
Here is a list of the most common types of trees being cut down in Saskatoon, and some insight on how they burn.
Birch
Is a great choice of hardwood when you are looking for quick heat. It ignites with ease, makes for great kindling and it produces an astounding amount of heat. The drawback is that it burns very quickly, and if you are using this for heating your home, you will need to tend to it much more frequently then some of the other woods on this list.
Oak
Is the most desirable firewood available to us. It burns very slowly and generates a enormous amount of heat. A couple of the downsides of oak is that it generally takes a while longer for the wood to fully season, and when it is completely dried out, it is quite hard to ignite. Using a different type of kindling is recommended.
Maple
Is readily available and burns even longer then both birch and oak. Once seasoned and ready for burning, the only drawback is that it doesn’t burn as hot as other woods. For the best results, try burning maple, oak and birch all together.
Pine
There are a number of advantages to using softwoods as fire woods. It’s easy to split, the cure time is short, and it burns hot. On the flip side, it burns very quickly causing you to add frequently, and with sap pockets inside the wood, one must be careful for sparks.
Cedar
Very similar characteristics as pine. It has a high burning temperature, but in turn burns very quickly. It also has sap stored inside the wood which will make it spark regularly, and is recommended to be burnt with other woods as well.
